GERORES MELIES - 1899

This early film by the man celebrated in Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" was hand tinted one frame at a time.

  1. It's interesting watching something so old and finding it hard to classify it as anything other than bad. The obvious cuts in the film are reminiscent of Star Wars, when a lightsaber would activate or deactivate. As I was not alive when this film was created, I have no frame of reference, but I CAN say that cuts such as the ones presented in the film wouldn't fly today, even if presented in an artistic style.
